Fragile freedom – a Russian researcher in exile
Event on September 2, 2024 at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg
On September 2, 2024 at 6 p.m., the second edition of the live podcast “Fragile Freedom” will take place at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg with Russian legal scholar Sergei Mikhailov*. In view of restrictions on academic freedom and increasing repression in his home country, he was unable to return to Russia after a research stay in Germany. With the support of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative, among others, he is now continuing his research at the University of Halle-Wittenberg.
In the event series “Fragile Freedom”, researchers in exile share their experiences of the loss of freedom that led them to leave their home country. Their experiences emphasize the need to actively stand up for the preservation of democratic values. The public talks at various universities in Germany are aimed at pupils, students and the interested public and offer an opportunity for exchange between the researchers and the audience. Admission is free of charge. The event will be held in German.
For security reasons, a photo, video and recording ban is in effect during the event.
